I have a 73 bronco with wiring issues?

i am only pulling .6 amps from the coil to the dist. i have to pop the solenoid to get it to spin over. the ignition switch works when on position but when i try to crank it, the voltage reg. on the firewall clicks. this is really irritating me. any info would be greatly appreciated.
