Bob Gibson was well known for pitching in the clutch and especially in the World Series whereas Nolan Ryan never did pitch very much in a World Series except for a brief moment when he as a Met. Gibson is famous for setting the still existing strikeout record in a World Series game when he won the opening game striking out 17 Detroit Tigers in the process.
